RE: PLANNED Burn at WILLIAMS LANDING GRASSLAND RESERVES, WILLIAMS LANDING
Practical Ecology and Habitat Land Management are planning to conduct controlled burning on:
- Tuesday 28th April, 2026 – at 31 Rothbury Parkway, (Grassland Reserve A), Williams Landing.
- Wednesday 29th April, 2026 – at 19 Charsworth Way, (Grassland Reserve B), Williams Landing.
Crews will be on site from 8am preparing the area, and the burn will start from approximately 10am – 11am.
The controlled burns will only go ahead provided weather and other conditions are suitable.
The Grassland Reserves in Williams Landing are managed by Cedar Woods Properties for the conservation of rare and threatened flora and fauna species and their habitat. If you have further enquiries about the management of the grasslands, please find contact details online at www.cedarwoods.com.au/Contact-Us.
Contractors conducting the burns are experienced and trained in this work. Before every burn, we carefully assess the weather, dryness of the vegetation and site geography. We will burn small sections at a time and monitor fire grounds until the areas are declared safe.
On a periodic cycle, informed by ecological monitoring of the grasslands, the use of fire helps control weeds, germinate indigenous seed, reduce fuel loads and to reduce the impact of wildfires on public land.
If you have health queries relating to smoke exposure you should seek medical advice or call Nurse-on-Call on 1300 60 60 24.
For up-to-date information about controlled burns in your area, please download the Vic Emergency app or visit the website at https://www.emergency.vic.gov.au/respond/.
